Danu Vets Newsletter 2020

Where We Are Headed
We’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors lately, walking through the wild herbs and grasses growing near the Monterey Bay as birds fly above, assuring us of a world in motion. We share their desire to take flight and to explore... it’s what we do!
The last few months have been challenging as we've come to an almost full stop. Yet it’s also a rare opportunity to become “grounded”, and we’re taking this time to focus on our procedures, implement extra safety procedures, and re-connect with our amazing community and international travel team.
With two vaccines being successfully implemented the world can cautiously begin to re-open, so we're getting ready to adventure with you again soon.
When we do, it will look a bit different; we will navigate familiar terrain, but with new protocols and restrictions. It won’t be business as usual, but it will be the same exciting adventures, exceptional support, extraordinary time in nature, and unique cultural explorations that are part of the Danu experience.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Lets not lose the momentum — this is too important an opportunity. Racial injustice is building for the Black Lives Matter movement. It has taken so long to get this far — and it's horrible that George Floyd’s murder had to happen to open so many oblivious eyes. But at least they opened — for awhile…
The white supremacy movement has no place in our culture, and must be rejected by all our leaders and fellow citizens. Let your voice be heard.

Our Travel/Yoga trips in 2021— time to jump on the bandwagon
Research shows that movement-based yoga helps reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress — something we all need during these times of uncertainty.
Two of our 2021 trips will include daily yoga classes as a fabulous way to begin the day. Both of our outstanding Instructors specialize in working with beginners.
Denise Wendler will be on hand for The Best of Bali: Yoga, Art, and Spirituality, August 28-Sept. 10, 2020. Denise began teaching yoga in 1996 and is expert in breaking down each pose and guiding you to accomplish even complicated asanas.
Our second yoga trip will be Greek Islands and Yoga with Susan Merritt, May 18-June 1, 2021. Susan has been teaching yoga for over 37 years and is expert in anatomy and intuition, with an eye for proper alignment.(photo of Susan from the trip description)
Both Instructors are currently teaching on-line via zoom, so check them out.
You will love both of these trips! Think of yoga as an especially tasty appetizer at the beginning of an outstanding meal.
Greece in May
We offer two exciting trips to Greece in the spring.
(Photo:Church with blue dome at sunset on Santorini island, Greece.)
Overflowing with charm, and well known for modern luxury and extraordinary hospitality, Greece is always a favorite destination for Danu travelers. Alongside ancient wonder and remarkable history, the sidewalk cafes and lively markets are bursting with the sweet and spicy flavors of the Mediterranean. Greek culture steals into our souls, from the relaxing ambiance of a seaside sunset to the incredible mosaics hidden inside a monastery. The extraordnary culture and history of Greece has inspired centuries of emperors and poets—are you ready to join them?
Although Greece did not endure large numbers in the pandemic, they do not expect large numbers of visitors in 2021. Mask-wearing and social distancing are practiced. Both trips will be small group and are private customized trips with private driver/ guides.
Exploring Greek Islands: Crete & Santorini: May 6-18 , 2021
Greek Islands & Yoga with Susan Merritt: May 18 - Jun 1, 2021
NEW OFFERING: SLOVENIA
Slovenia is the green heart of Europe. Healthy waters and a clean environment, the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, cities and towns surrounded by nature, and the award-winning Slovenia Green model of sustainable tourism all serve as an example to the world.
Beside winning top awards for ecotourism, there are none of the crowds experienced by their neighbors Croatia and Italy. Only a handful of tourists visited in 2019, and 2021 expects to be even smaller. But the best surprises often come from the most unexpected places.
Lonely Planet lists Lake Bled in Slovenia among its top 10 travel experiences for 2021.We have put together an exciting itinerary that blends juicy cultural exploration with leisurely physical activity in the best natural resources the country offers. www.danutours.com
We can’t be together now, but we can all be looking forward to 2021
Danu Enterprises Introduces Travel with Confidence policy
Keeping travelers safe and healthy
The safety of the travelers, employees, and partners has always been our top priority. And now, as our world opens back up, we know it is essential for you to feel completely comfortable whenever you decide to get back to exploring.
When you feel ready, we are more than ready to support you with our new Travel with Confidence policy. This new policy is built around four pillars that outline how we will help you feel even better about your choice to travel:
SMALLER IS BETTER
Our groups have always been small (usually 8-10 travelers) to encourage connections, access places overlooked by larger groups, and to give travelers plenty of personal space — even before physical distancing. We will continue to foster connections with newly created measures to keep everyone safe.
GETTING AROUND
Our private vehicles will now feature daily assigned seating and undergo daily deep cleaning of all surfaces. Hand-sanitizer will be required every time travelers board the vehicle.
SLEEP SOUNDLY
We are working with our accommodation partners creating new procedures to further protect your health and safety. Because we travel in small groups, we stay at smaller hotels with fewer guests, reducing the risk of infection. This also allows more time to socialize (with appropriate distancing) with your fellow Danu travelers.
GOOD (AND SAFE) EATS
Food is half the reason we travel, so we know how crucial it is that you feel safe whenever we stop for a meal. We offer eating experiences on our tour only where good hygiene is maintained and physical distancing can be practiced.
And one last thing since it’s been weighing heavily — our collective hearts go out to our friends and families who have lost dear ones to the Coronavirus or have been affected by the horrific wildfires. The devastation to human life, infrastructures and the environment is catastrophic. But recover we will and new life will spring from the ashes.
Stay safe - stay strong.
Share your thoughts, ask questions…we are here and we are listening.
